Broken Beach, known locally as Pasih Uug, features a spectacular natural archway carved through a cliff by ocean erosion, creating a dramatic circular cove with turquoise water[4]. The name “Pasih Uug” means “Broken Beach” in Balinese, referring to the collapsed sea cave that formed the iconic arch. The circular lagoon inside measures approximately 50 meters in diameter, with steep cliffs rising 50-70 meters above the water[4].

Visitor Information

Access: Broken Beach is not accessible to the water level – viewing is from clifftop paths only. There are no stairs down to the beach or lagoon.

Swimming: Not possible or permitted due to steep cliffs and no beach access.

Photography: Best during morning light (9:00-11:00 AM) when sun illuminates the arch and water is most turquoise.

Time Needed: 30-45 minutes to walk around the rim and capture photos from all viewpoints.
